Official Rules  (UNPUBLISHED)

General Information

  • The Saskatchewan Angling Registry incorporates both a catch and release (C/R) component and a catch and keep (C/K) component. Anglers may enter their fish in either division in accordance with the following rules.
  • Fish entered in the C/R division must equal or exceed the minimum qualifying length.
  • Fish entered in the C/K division must equal or exceed the minimum qualifying weight.
  • Anglers are recognized by the Registry for their catch

1.0 General Rules

1.1 Fish must be caught in Saskatchewan in public waters by recreational angling methods in accordance with provincial regulations.

1.2 Fish may be entered in either the Catch and Release category OR the Catch and Keep category.

1.3 Each entry must be submitted on an official entry form or online at https://www.swf.sk.ca/7Angling-Hunting/Saskatchewan_Angling_Registry.html. Entries with poor quality photos, illegible or incomplete data may be disqualified.

1.4
An angler may submit multiple entries per year.

1.5 To be eligible for prize draws, fish must be caught within the current calendar year (Jan. 1st – Dec. 31st) and entries must be received by the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation no later than two weeks (14 days) after year end.

1.6 Each entry will be reviewed by the registry committee and their decision will be final.

2.0 Rules for Catch and Release Entries

2.1 The total length of the fish must be measured in a straight line from the tip of the snout to the tip of the tail with the tail pinched (see diagram). All entries must equal or exceed the minimum qualifying length for that species to be eligible.

2.2
Each entry must be accompanied by at least one clear, colour, side-view photograph of the fish with a measuring device or an object of standard size (e.g. fishing license – 6″) in the picture. Additional photos of the angler and fish may also be submitted. Entries must be signed by a witness.

2.3 If the fish shows any signs of improper handling prior to release, the entry may be disqualified.

3.0 Rules for Catch and Keep Entries

3.1 Fish must be weighed on a government inspected scale that is legal for trade. These scales can be found in grocery stores, meat markets, post offices, etc. The fish must not contain anything or have anything attached which artificially increases weight. Entries for fish that have been weighed on household or handheld scales will not be accepted.

3.2 All entries must equal or exceed the minimum qualifying weight for that species to be eligible. Entries must be signed by a witness and be accompanied by the weight receipt (if available).

3.3 Each entry must be accompanied by at least one clear, colour, side-view photograph of the fish

4.0  Entries and Photos

4.1 All entries and photos become the property of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation and will not be returned. The registry is not responsible for lost or damaged entries. The Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation and its partner, Tourism Saskatchewan, reserve the right to publish names, home towns and photos of award recipients and their catch. The SWF and Tourism Saskatchewan will not share personal information with any third party.
