The Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation (SWF) Board of Directors have decided that SWF Habitat Trust Lands WILL NOT be open for Elk Hunting in WMZ 39, The RM of Stanley or the RM of Leask to accommodate the recently announced Extended ELK Hunt in those areas from March 10 -31, 2025.
This decision is based on the ethical concerns of harvesting cow elk who are just a few weeks away from calving.
The SWF supports providing compensation for all producers that are experiencing losses due to wildlife damage and that hunting opportunity allocations for the Fall 2025 Elk Seasons be implemented in accordance with the Game Management Plan.
