Advancing Women in Conservation Summit Receives the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s National Doug Clarke Memorial Award

July 5, 2023 by Courtney Devins

The Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation (SWF) is excited to announce that the Advancing Women in Conservation (AWIC) Summit was selected as the recipient of the 2023 National Doug Clarke Memorial Award from the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF).

This award is presented to a CWF affiliate for the most outstanding conservation project completed during the previous year by the affiliate, its clubs, or its members.

The AWIC Summit was the first of its kind in Canada. Delegates addressed challenges, discussed solutions, enhanced leadership skills and nurtured community in a field where women have experienced barriers. This has inspired a 2nd Annual AWIC Summit to be held in Fredericton, New Brunswick on October 20-22, 2023.

On June 17, 2023, Courtney Devins, Director of Communications & Marketing for the SWF, attended the CWF’s Annual Awards Banquet, hosted this year in Whitehorse, Yukon, to accept this prestigious award on behalf of the SWF and AWIC.

Thank you to the AWIC Summit sponsors, presenters, Steering Committee, and SWF Board of Director’s for the support to host this landmark event.

The CWF Conservation Achievement Awards highlight some of the outstanding achievements of conservation leaders across Canada. The SWF is proud to be a leader in conservation, and to be part of the team to empower and advance women in conservation across Canada.
