With spring just around the corner, and spring cleaning on everyone’s mind, the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation is reminding people that they can turn guns, antlers, and used hunting and fishing equipment into habitat for wildlife across the province while receiving a tax-deductible receipt for their generosity.
For over 20 years, SWF’s Guns for Habitat and Antlers for Habitat initiatives have allowed individuals to donate unwanted firearms and antlers for a good cause, raising over $250,000 in the process. Thanks to matching programs provided by SWF branches around the province, that number doubles!
These items are sold with the proceeds supporting SWF’s Habitat Trust initiatives. The Habitat Trust program acquires and enhances habitat for wildlife including species at risk. A tax-deductible receipt is issued to the donor upon sale of the antlers or equipment.
“We appreciate the generosity of everyone who has donated to these programs in the past. All of the proceeds from the sale of these items are used to secure critical wildlife habitat in our province for the benefit of our wildlife resources and generations of Saskatchewan residents” said Darren Newberry, Director of Habitat Lands for the SWF.
The SWF will gladly arrange for pickup of these donations anywhere across Saskatchewan.
