On Tuesday August 28, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that he had assigned Canada’s newly appointed Minister of Border Security and Organized Crime Reduction, the Honourable Bill Blair the directive of “leading an examination of a full ban on handguns and assault weapons in Canada, while not impeding the lawful use of firearms by Canadians”.
The inherent contradictions within that statement are staggering, and should generate renewed alarm from the law-abiding firearm community across Canada.
As always, the Canadian Firearms Community will support comprehensive programs or policies that address the root causes of violence or illegal firearm activity in our communities. However, we reject the Federal Governments continuing focus on impeding the rights of the law-abiding, licensed firearm owners of Canada that has proven to have no positive effect on these issues.
Once again, this governments gun control plans are way off target.
